Acceptable Use Policy

Audiowire moves audio between applications and devices on a computer you control. This policy sets out what you may not do with it. It is short because there is really only one thing on it.

Do not record anyone who has not consented, where consent is required. Audiowire can capture the audio of a call or a meeting without the other participants seeing any indication in the application they are using. Laws differ — some places require the consent of every participant, some only one — and in many of them recording without the required consent is a criminal offence, not a policy violation. Getting that right where you are is your responsibility, and the fact that the software made it easy is not a defence.

The same applies to services: many meeting and streaming platforms prohibit recording in their own terms, independently of the law.

Using Audiowire to circumvent a technical protection measure on content you are not entitled to copy; to impersonate a device or an input for the purpose of deceiving someone (for example naming a virtual device after a real microphone in order to mislead the person at the keyboard); or in any unlawful activity.

Requests to make capture invisible, to suppress the capture indicator, or to hide Audiowire’s own devices from the person using the machine get declined. If something cannot be done without hiding it from the person being recorded, the answer is no. That is a product commitment, not only a policy.

We may terminate licences used in violation of this policy. Because the Software runs entirely on your device and makes no network requests, we cannot and do not monitor your usage — enforcement is reactive and complaint-driven, and we would be relying on what you tell us.
